We are on the eastern part of the city, the one with the estuary, the dike, the marina, the fishing port, the cruise ships and the eternal and immense goods docks, which we should start talking about in the past tense. This places us at a key point to understand the situation of the project, we are at the point where the city becomes a port and where continuity will be established in the future.

A plot with a north facing facade for the moment, but which will greet the estuary in the future, and this is why we can’t lose the perspective in which it is located at anytime. The intention is to seek a continuity of the sea walk to extend it from the Marina towards Oza.

Possible circulations are studied and the main barriers to guide the flows are highlighted. There is a difference between the itinerary at the edge of the sea, interior itineraries for walks, passages and the new circulations caused by the use of our building, adding to all this the conditions of sunlight and views of the city. The aim is to ensure that users flows smoothly and that there is a continuous relationship with the outside so that any user doesn’t feel trapped or out of place.

With the program and the relationship with the environment already internalised, the problem begans to be solved. A powerful element of communication is clearly defined, it will be in charge of solving the circulations, structuring the building, distributing the facilities, organizing it, that is, a heart in charge of managing the circulatory flow. We distinguish between three main areas that are connected as links in a chain that come together as two big vertical U-shaped planes, leaving the circulatory space in the middle.

A project that seeks to be an immersive play, where people experiment by circulating through space. This generates an architecture of flows and circulations. It is a building that expands trying to find the limits of the plot several times, but which at the same time tries to wrap itself up in order to feel protected.

The structure is the architecture, the concrete walls accompanied by point elements make it up, and it is the structure that practically solves the program, just a couple of interior partitions have just defined it. Working spaces always related to the outside.

We can’t forget that the courtrooms are the singular pieces of a Courthouse. That is why it seeks to break away form the current courtrooms by opening them on one of their sides to the views, letting in the natural light, torn by the slats. A non-existing lattice of vertical slats on the ground floor, the most public, which increases density as we go up, until we reach the last two floors, where it double its pace to provide greater protection.

The aim of the project is to try to deprive the user of the feeling of anguish that occurs when faced with this type of buildings, seeking at all times that the architecture responds and it is capable of solving the problems of each of its users, regardless of their condition and tryiing to be a fair and true architecture, to approach what the judicial system should be.
