The project faces the challenge of building on a slope, of creating a quality public space shared by all. Getting the right scale, Dialoguing as much as possible with the existing buildings, without complexes, being up to par and to making the slope accesible as a healing nature, as a path.

We configure our building as a buffer between the slope as “nature” and the artifice of the horizontal plane. It is about shaping a slope, transforming it into architecture.

The access to the new building takes place oppositte the existing one, helping to build a street between them, transforming a mere accumulation of buildings into a small urban scene, and its inhabitants into citizens.

The inhabited and transparent slope shows and welcomes the most public functions of the building. Access and vestibule in its lower part. Multipurpose room and cafe in the upper one, where the users enjoy two orientations, north and south, to the hill side and to the street. A place with an atmosphere and proportions typical of a facility. Going down to the cafe will be “leaving home”.

On the slope an abstracted prism, which is articulated around two patios, where the rooms and the rest of the program are located. The position of the patios and terraces and the arrangement of the rooms in small groups promote circular routes, as a succession of places and events, allowing the elderly to orient themselves by recognizing the place they inhabit. A small neighbourhood where two itineraries are always possible, the surprise, meeting with the other, looking without been seen, being a group, a couple, an individual, a citizen. Elderly citizen.

Winter terraces, summer terraces, patios, cross ventilation, lighting in various orientations, so varied conditions that they seem to us in the course of the day, of the seasons, an event in itself far from any monotony.

The scale, the atmosphere of this prism will be clearly domestic in opposition to that of the inhabited slope. The proportions, the gaps in the facade, will be part of the memory of a daily life already lived.

The criteria of efficiency and sustainability are taken into account. The design favors the possibility of cross ventilation in the hottest months and solar capture in winter, which reduces overall energy consumption.

Green roofs with low thermal transmittance values allow better thermal insulation of the building. Functioning as a water tank for storage and use of rain, which also improves thermal insulation.
